'Once somebody has suffered a cardiac arrest, there are only a few minutes in which defibrillation is likely to succeed. The quicker defibrillation is carried out the greater the chance of saving the casualty. Ambulances may take several miutes to reach the scene.' Dept. of Health 2003.
